There are a few things that I know—without a shadow of a doubt—to be true. One such truth is that Glacier National Park is magic. While most visitors to the park come during the summer season, Glacier National Park is open year-round and winter provides a completely different (and serenely peaceful) experience in the Crown of the Continent. This past weekend, I was able to sneak in a getaway to one of the most beautiful places in the world and it did not disappoint.

If you prefer to travel to Montana by train, chances are that you are well aware that the current train schedule has eastbound trains from Seattle arriving into Whitefish at 4:26 a.m.

Earlier this week, my travels led me to Triple Creek Ranch. A luxury guest ranch (and a Relais & Châteaux property), Triple Creek is located south of Darby in the Bitterroot Mountains in one of the most charming settings in Montana.

Alright fine, I’ll admit it. Winter is on the way. And while I may not be totally stoked that it’s creeping up (I want to enjoy Montana’s fall colors just a little bit longer), something that I am totally stoked about is this year’s Warren Miller Entertainment film, “No Turning Back.”

It’s time to put my bragging pants on: I have the pleasure of knowing some great people here in Montana. Folks who are talented, smart, nice and funny. One such person: my friend Collin. Not only is he kind of ridiculously smart, outdoorsy and cool (as in he makes me look like an even bigger nerd than I already am), but he is hands-down one of the nicest gentlemen in the state of Montana.

Every once in a while, this messy-haired girl feels the need to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. And because I’m not one to ignore a hankering, earlier this week a group of my girlfriends decided to bust a move out of the city and make our way to a little piece of paradise only 45 minutes from Missoula: Montana Island Lodge.

Last winter, I had the utmost privilege (and I mean that in the most serious way) of working with two of the skiing industry’s up-and-coming skiers: TJ David and Brody Leven. I kid you not, these guys are two of the most stellar gentlemen I’ve ever know. They came to Montana to ski areas along Highway 93 for Skiing Magazine (read all about it here) and to produce an episode (check that out here) of Storm Cycles.

I’m just gonna say it: I totally heart Christmas and everything associated with it. It’s official. Winter has fully arrived. And I must say, it has done so with a bang….of snow. During the early season, snow fell in our upper elevations and laid down a strong base (like the strongest in years!) for the winter recreation season. Well played, Old Man Winter.
