Set along the Interstate Highway 90 corridor between Missoula, Montana, and Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, the welcoming community of St. Regis is a classic Western Montana road-trip stop. Framed by the Bitterroot, Coeur d’Alene and Cabinet mountain ranges, this small town blends scenic views, outdoor adventure and genuine hospitality.

St. Regis is an easy stop off Interstate 90.

SHOP

The St. Regis Travel Center is a local-favorite destination. More than a place to refuel, it’s where travelers stop for food at Huck’s Grill, famous huckleberry milkshakes, sweet treats from Dolly V’s ice cream, fudge and espresso. Inside, you’ll find a live trout aquarium and a large retail store stocked with souvenirs. And if you’re in the mood for more shopping, head to Place of Antiques, where unique and vintage pieces are always in rotation.

SCENIC DRIVE

Just beyond town, the St. Regis–Paradise Scenic Byway (State Route 135) winds 22 miles through rolling flats and dramatic canyon walls. Part of the Clark Fork Scenic Drive through the Coeur d’Alene Mountains, the route connects Alberton with Montana’s scenic Highway 200. Along the way, opportunities for fishing, hiking, camping and wildlife viewing abound, as does a relaxing soak at Quinn’s Hot Springs Resort.

OUTDOOR RECREATION

St. Regis Community Park offers a half-mile interpretive nature trail, playground and pond—ideal for stretching your legs or enjoying a picnic. The nearby Clark Fork River draws anglers, while Lookout Pass, about 30 minutes west, delivers winter fun. Trails throughout Lolo National Forest invite hikers and bikers to explore forested landscapes year-round.

Lolo National Forest offers hiking, mountain biking and camping opportunities while anglers can fish the Clark Fork River for trout.

Twenty-three miles west of St. Regis, the family-friendly Route of the Hiawatha is a must. This 15-mile Rails-to-Trails ride passes through 10 tunnels and across seven high trestles, offering unforgettable views of Western Montana’s incredible terrain. A shuttle is available for those who prefer to skip the uphill sections. Mountain bikers and hikers alike also love the St. Regis River Trail #223l, a 9-mile stretch of smooth single-track.

Golfers can enjoy a relaxed round at Trestle Creek Golf Course, a family-friendly course set against the Bitterroot Range. Tee times are often available on short notice, and clubs can be rented on-site—perfect for an impromptu stop. For minigolf—and one-of-a-kind finds—head to Two Rivers Thrift & Minigolf.

SMALL-TOWN EVENTS

Throughout the year, the town comes together for events like the annual Easter egg hunt, Trail Rail Run, Fourth of July parade and fireworks, and Fall Festival.

One event that stands out is the St. Regis Flea Market. Each Memorial Day weekend, Community Park hosts the largest flea market in Montana, drawing vendors and visitors from near and far for three days of treasure hunting and local eats.

Please note: We ask that all our visitors and residents recreate responsibly by being mindful of the following: know before you go; plan ahead; play it safe; leave no trace; tread lightly; and help build an inclusive outdoors.
