ARRIVE IN MISSOULA
Missoula is Montana’s second-largest city, a hub for arts and culture, and a convenient starting point for exploring Glacier Country. Set at the confluence of three rivers, it offers easy access to the outdoors, with miles of trails connecting neighborhoods, riverfront parks and nearby public lands. Downtown, you’ll find locally owned boutiques, restaurants, breweries, galleries, museums and performance venues, along with seasonal events and farmers markets that bring the community together.

LIVE MUSIC
From cozy, intimate venues to open-air amphitheaters with mountain views, Missoula’s live music scene spans a range of experiences. Performances happen year-round, with national touring acts and local musicians taking the stage at venues across the city.
- KettleHouse Amphitheater: Set along the Blackfoot River, this outdoor venue combines live music with sweeping views of the surrounding landscape. With a capacity of 4,250, it regularly hosts well-known touring artists of all genres in an open-air setting.
- Top Hat: A longtime downtown gathering place, this intimate venue and a local-favorite restaurant hosts live performances in a smaller setting.
- Adams Center: Located on the University of Montana campus, this large indoor arena hosts major concerts and touring productions throughout the year.
- Washington-Grizzly Stadium: With seating for more than 25,000, this stadium hosts large-scale concerts in Missoula, bringing in some of the biggest names in music, like Pink, Elton John and Post Mallon.
- The Wilma: A historic downtown theater known for its early 1900s architecture and acoustics, offering concerts, film events and performances in a classic setting.
- Zootown Festival: Missoula’s newest large-scale music festival returns for its second year, bringing two days of live performances to downtown. The event brings a curated lineup of artists to Missoula’s fairgrounds; this year’s headliners include The Lumineers and The Chicks.

YEAR-ROUND EVENTS
If you can, plan your trip around one of Missoula’s signature events. In February, attend the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival. April brings both the International Wildlife Film Festival and the Kyiyo Pow Wow Celebration. In May, enjoy the Garden City Brewfest, followed by the Missoula Marathon and Zootown Festival in June. August hosts the Western Montana Fair and rodeo, while September features River City Roots Festival and the Norman Maclean Literary Festival. In October, the Montana Festival of the Book and Germanfest draw crowds downtown. December brings Holiday on Higgins, and Missoula rings in the new year with Missoula on Main on New Year’s Eve. These are just a few highlights—there’s something happening nearly every weekend throughout the year.

EXPLORE BEYOND MISSOULA
Missoula serves as a convenient hub for exploring Western Montana. From here, travelers can set out for Glacier National Park—about a 3-hour drive—home to alpine lakes, glacially carved peaks and the iconic Going-to-the-Sun Road. The park’s landscapes offer opportunities for scenic drives, hiking, wildlife viewing and photography.
Beyond the park, the surrounding landscapes invite exploration in every direction. Plan a day on the water at Flathead Lake, the largest natural freshwater lake west of the Mississippi. Spend time in the Bitterroot Valley antiquing, horseback riding, hiking or visiting filming locations from the “Yellowstone” TV series. Take a scenic drive north, stopping at the Garden of One Thousand Buddhas before continuing on to the CSKT Bison Range, home to 350+ bison, as well as bighorn sheep, elk, deer and more. Wherever you go, you’ll find a mix of open space, local history and outdoor access.

FOUR SEASONS OF DISCOVERY
