Lovebirds flock to Glacier Country for anniversary adventures, romantic getaways, weekend retreats and bed-and-breakfast charm. Western Montana is ripe for romance year-round, but winter lays on the allure. Picture firelit dinners, hot spring soaks under the starry sky, unique lodging with fine dining, plus outdoor adventures and indoor comforts all allowing for reconnection and relaxation. With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, we’ve put together some of our favorite romantic getaways in Western Montana that’ll make your heart skip a beat.
Some couples like a little outdoor recreation to complement their downtime. Glacier Bear Condo offers ski-in/ski-out lodging in a luxury mountain home literally on the slopes of Whitefish Mountain Resort, or stay at Wonderstone in Columbia Falls—the perfect mid-point between Whitefish Mountain Resort and Glacier National Park.
In Hamilton, snuggle up fireside in a quaint log cabin at The Cabins at Deer Crossing. It’s the ideal location to relax after an exhilarating guided snowmobile adventure with Bitterroot Adventures. Or for a truly unique overnight, book a home on the Teller Wildlife Refuge. Located in the Bitterroot Valley, the Teller Wildlife Refuge encompasses 1,300 acres. There are three homes on the refuge available to rent.
For a romantic bed-and-breakfast stay, book a night at Outlook Inn Bed and Breakfast on the shores of Flathead Lake. A modern building with charming rooms and a bustling fireplace in the gathering room set the stage for nostalgia. Add on the Deluxe Romance Special to show your affection and be greeted with a dozen red roses, chocolate-covered strawberries and a bottle of sparkling cider.
Don’t forget to play outdoors and take your sweetheart on a sleigh ride through Western Montana’s winter landscape. The historic Double Arrow Lodge, tucked in the Seeley Lake Valley, can oblige. Embark on a romantic ride for two in an antique cutter sleigh, complete with Champagne, hot rocks to warm your feet, a buffalo robe to keep you cozy and breathtaking views of the Swan Mountains.
For rejuvenation seekers, come soak in the relaxing mineral waters of a hot spring. In the aptly named town of Paradise, Quinn’s Hot Springs Resort offers cabin stays along the banks of the Clark Fork River, with dining options of an upscale restaurant or casual tavern. Quinn’s books up fast so it’s best to reserve well in advance. In the nearby town of Hot Springs, Alameda’s Hot Springs Retreat provides private hot mineral baths in each of its 1930s vintage motel rooms.
In addition to our unique lodging options, Western Montana is the perfect place for a culinary adventure with the one you love. Find an intimate setting and delicious French food at Boxcar in Missoula. In Kalispell Mercantile Steak puts a twist on the classic steakhouse menu by offering wagyu burgers and a vegan mushroom “steak” alongside classic steak cuts with toppings, including foie gras. The Wild Mare in Corvallis is known for their locally sourced mouthwatering steaks, and also serves exceptional lamb, pasta and seafood entrees. Finish dinner with a sweet treat from their rotating dessert menu.
