To enhance visitor experience, the National Park Service will implement a vehicle reservation system for Glacier National Park’s 2025 peak season, as in years past. New this year: vehicle reservations are for one day only, and are for a selected timed entry. From June 13 through September 28, 2025, timed-entry vehicle reservations are required for the west side of Going-to-the-Sun Road and North Fork from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Visitors entering the park in a vehicle or on a motorcycle in one of these areas during these dates and times need two things: (1) A timed-entry vehicle reservation or service reservation (such as a guided tour or lodging reservation) and (2) Park Entrance Fee or valid Park Pass (Annual, Senior, Military, etc.).

This system helps manage congestion within the park. Both locations have unique details and require a separate reservation. Vehicle reservation tickets are available now for 120-day advance purchase on a daily rolling basis. Secure your reservation and learn more below.

GOING-TO-THE-SUN ROAD (WEST ENTRANCE)

One reservation per vehicle will be required to travel the Going-to-the-Sun Road beyond the Apgar Village area from June 13 through September 28, 2025, between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Visitors can enter before 7 a.m. or after 3 p.m. without a vehicle reservation. Vehicle reservations will be valid for one day only and for the reserved time only.

Visitors will be able to access Apgar Village amenities, including the Apgar Visitor Center, without a vehicle reservation. Lodging, camping (including front-country developed campgrounds and backcountry camping permits), transportation, or commercial activity reservations originating in Apgar will not provide access beyond the Apgar checkpoint.

GOING-TO-THE-SUN ROAD (ST. MARY/EAST ENTRANCE)

Visitors will be able to access the Going-to-the-Sun Road from the east side beyond Rising Sun without a vehicle reservation. Visitors will also have access to the St. Mary Visitor Center and shuttle stop on the east side of Glacier National Park. Note: You can drive the length of the road from the east to west side, but you won’t be allowed back (west to east) until after 3 p.m. or with a valid vehicle reservation.

Vehicle reservations are not needed to drive the Going-to-the-Sun Road if you start from the east entrance at St. Mary.

NORTH FORK

One reservation per vehicle will be required at the North Fork entrance station from June 13 through September 28, 2024, between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Vehicle reservations will be valid for one day only and for the reserved time only. Visitors can enter before 7 a.m. or after 3 p.m. without a vehicle reservation.

MANY GLACIER

Access to Many Glacier is restricted during Swiftcurrent area construction (which will continue through mid-May 2026). From July 1 to September 21, 2025, the park will provide a ticketed shuttle service to allow hiker access, limited to 120 groups per day, with reservations available on Recreation.gov one week in advance or the night before at 7 p.m. This temporary system is not part of the above-mentioned vehicle reservation system. Access to all trails will begin at the Many Glacier Hotel upper parking lot, with detours adding up to an extra mile each way. No general public access is allowed without a shuttle ticket, commercial service, or lodging reservation. Learn more here.

VEHICLE RESERVATIONS AND PARK PASSES

Vehicle reservations will be available on recreation.gov, the Recreation.gov mobile app and the Recreation.gov Call Center (Reservation Line: 877.444.6777). Visitors will need to set up an account on Recreation.gov to obtain reservations. The only cost associated with booking a reservation is a $2 Recreation.gov processing fee.

Vehicle reservations will be available through two booking timeframes.

  • A portion of vehicle reservations will be available 120 days or approximately four months in advance, starting on February 12, 2025, at 8 a.m. MST on a daily rolling basis on Recreation.gov.
  • Next Day vehicle reservations will be available at 7 p.m. MDT for next-day entry starting on June 12, 2025 on a daily rolling basis.

As stated above, in addition to a vehicle reservation, each vehicle entering the park is required to have an entrance pass for any entry point into the park. These passes could include any of the following: a $35 vehicle pass, good for seven days; a valid Interagency Annual/Lifetime Pass; or a Glacier National Park Annual Pass. A vehicle reservation does not include an entrance pass, and the park entrance pass does not serve as a vehicle reservation.

Pursuant to the American Indian Religious Freedom Act of 1978, vehicle reservations are not required for tribal members throughout the park.

Please note: We ask that all our visitors and residents recreate responsibly by being mindful of the following: know before you go; plan ahead; play it safe; leave no trace; tread lightly; and help build an inclusive outdoors.
