Happy New Year from all of us here in Glacier Country. We closed out 2021 with gratitude for this wild place we call home. Like most, we began 2022 with resolutions. Some of the most popular resolutions include working toward a healthier lifestyle and making well-being a priority. Vacations are a time of indulgence, but sticking to a routine and staying active, or taking a moment to meditate, can help you feel your best while traveling. We’ve rounded up a list of yoga, spin, Pilates and CrossFit studios in Western Montana that are totally worth your vacation time.

STAND UP PADDLEBOARD YOGA

Yoga Hive Montana has a variety of options for visitors, including a single-class pass option and a Visiting Yogi 2 class option. With studios in Whitefish, Columbia Falls and Kalispell, it’s easy to get to class. If you visit during the summer, you won’t want to miss stand-up paddleboard (SUP) yoga on Whitefish Lake. You’ll need to bring your own SUP, but don’t let that deter you—the on-site marina at The Lodge at Whitefish Lake offers rentals.

Turn up the heat, quite literally, at Hot House Yoga in downtown Missoula. Along with offering SUP yoga in the summer, their namesake hot yoga class is relaxing, restorative and open to all levels.

CYCLE

Ride into the new year during a beat-based cycling class with SOBBACycle, with locations in Whitefish and Missoula. The studio in Missoula is conveniently located on the first floor of the Residence Inn by Marriott in downtown. For another intense ride, head to HypeHouse in Missoula. Think dark room, mood lighting and energizing music during a low-impact, high-intensity workout. Be on the lookout for specialty charity rides in the courtyard of the University of Montana.

PILATES

A reformer Pilates class at Lagree MT is one of the slowest, and hardest, workouts you’ll do. Performed on a Pilates reformer machine, the workout combines strength, cardio and balance with each slow and controlled move. In Whitefish, Delia Pilates offers reformer and mat Pilates.

Ever heard of Barre? It combines elements from yoga and Pilates with ballet movements and aerobic exercise. It’s a total-body workout done with the assistance of a barre in an almost spa-like setting. Find Pure Barre in Missoula to experience it yourself.

CROSSFIT

Ready to run, row, jump rope, and carry odd objects? CrossFit Flathead in Kalispell welcomes visitors with open arms and offers a single drop-in class pricing or a weeklong membership. Book a class in Missoula at Zootown CrossFit or Bitterroot CrossFit in Hamilton.

AERIAL YOGA

In Missoula, take to the sky with aerial yoga at Purusa Yoga. Okay, you won’t really be in the sky, but you will be doing a combination of yoga, Pilates, dance and acrobatics from a suspended yoga swing. Visitors can drop in for one class or sign up for a 1-hour private session. In Whitefish, check out Levitation Nation Aerial Studio for another way to work up a sweat from an aerial hammock, aerial silks or barre.

Please note: We ask that all our visitors and residents Recreate Responsibly by being mindful of the following: practice physical distancing; know before you go; plan ahead; play it safe; leave no trace; tread lightly, and build an inclusive outdoors.
