In the northeast corner of Flathead Lake, Bigfork is a lively Western Montana community with plenty to explore. Spend summer on the lake or river, browse local shops, take in the arts scene and make time for a good meal along the way.

OUTDOOR ADVENTURE

Bigfork is a great launching point for Flathead Lake recreation, with outdoor experiences in and around the community. Fish Flathead Lake with Big Sky Fishing Charters. Rent kayaks, stand-up paddleboards or mountain bikes from Base Camp Bigfork. Cruise the lake in a pontoon, powerboat or jet ski rented from Old Faithful Watersports.

For a quieter way to experience the area, wander along the Swan River on the 2-mile Swan River Nature Trail. Hike to the top of Mount Aeneas or explore one of the many trails in the Jewel Basin. You can also take a stagecoach ride with Bigfork Stagecoach Rides & Rentals.

ARTS + CULTURE

Bigfork is known for its arts and culture, with multiple art galleries, shops and live theater. The Bigfork Summer Playhouse offers exceptional theater in an intimate setting.

Explore Electric Avenue and browse boutiques offering clothing, jewelry and gifts. From Memorial Day through Labor Day, visit the Bigfork Monday Market from 5 to 8 p.m. for fresh produce, baked goods, locally made arts and crafts and live music.

Don’t miss the annual 4th of July Parade. If you’re visiting in early August, make time for the Bigfork Festival of the Arts.

LOCAL FOOD + DRINK

Bigfork offers options ranging from fine dining to casual meals. Sample craft brews and pub food at Flathead Lake Brewing Co. Pubhouse, or tour Whistling Andy Distillery and try The Spirit of Sperry—its huckleberry-flavored vodka inspired by Glacier National Park’s Sperry Chalet.

For a meal with views of Flathead Lake, head to The Raven and enjoy dining on its lakeside deck.
