In the northwest corner of Montana, the community of Trout Creek invites visitors to slow down, take in the landscape and experience a region rooted in creativity and craft. While the area offers abundant opportunities for hiking, fishing and time on the water, it is also widely recognized for a celebrated summer tradition: the annual Trout Creek Huckleberry Festival.

Taking place the second full weekend of August every year, the festival includes an expansive maker’s market, where artisans, growers and craftspeople from across the region share their work. Visitors will find Made in Montana goods, handcrafted art, homegrown foods and unique pieces that reflect the character of Western Montana. Huckleberry-inspired creations—jams, baked goods and specialty treats—offer a taste of the season.
In addition to the market, the festival weekend features family-friendly activities, including a parade, a 5K run, a pie-eating contest, an auction and live music. It’s a chance to experience the warm hospitality and strong community ties that define Trout Creek.
A popular tradition for many festival-goers is the huckleberry pancake breakfast, served early on weekend mornings. Arriving ahead of the rush ensures time to enjoy a hearty meal before browsing the vendors and meeting the makers.
The Trout Creek Huckleberry Festival offers a meaningful way to explore this corner of Western Montana—celebrating the region’s creative talent, supporting local artisans and savoring the flavors of huckleberry season. Come for the market, the scenery and the sense of community. Trout Creek provides an inviting late-summer getaway.
Please note:We ask that all our visitors and residents recreate responsibly by being mindful of the following: know before you go; plan ahead; play it safe; leave no trace; tread lightly; and help build an inclusive outdoors.
